CANYON CITY NEWS. (THE STAYER.) GEO. A. BRANDON', Prop. WALTKK K. BRANDON, Kditor. Economy in Tooth Powder. "I never buy prepared tooth powder." This is a declaration made by a woman who manages to keep house on an absurdly small sum and keep it well. This probably explains it. "I can make exactly as good a powder as I can buy, and for 20 cents I can fix up enough to last the whole ' family a year. I buy prepared chalk in bulk. You know chalk is the basis of all tooth powder. With it I mix some ground castile soap. The proportions are seven eighths chalk toone-eighthsoap. With' this quantity I till up all the bottles and jars in the house." XOT1CK. For a nice hair cut or shave it will pay you to see me on south side of Stockmen's Nat ional bank. Amalso agent for Sherman Laundry. First class work and courteous treatment is our motto. Give us a trial and be convinced. Yours to Please, J. A. Wommack. The members of the board present were B. Frank Buie, L. T. Lester, J. C. Pipkin, W. 0. Baird, George Long and E. A. Upfold. For the position of Principal, the board had some very excellent material to select from, judging from the appear auce of the four gentlemen who represented their cases in per son. Upon the News reporter, who was present at the session, these applicants for the Princi palship, Professors M. F. Hor ton, A. W. Corothers, B. T. Ansley and W. T. Batchelor, made a very favorable impres sion, and, although the mantle of choice did not fall upou any of them, the News knowing the high intelligence of tbe board feels secure in saying that it has chosen wisely and for the best interests not only of the school but for the town...

AMONG OUR Clippings From Last lrioa County Record. Land Commissioner Terrell has just made a trip over the land in West Texas and after examining it has decided to sell it at $1.50 and $3 instead of $1 and 82 per acre as previous sales have been made.
