The Board of Trade has reported against De Lesseps' canal project and in favor of the Nicaragua iloute. Professor Proctor, ef England, has beea attracting large audiences to hear his great lectures on astronomy. Bishop Hiilery, who not long since returned from a town in E trope, is lecturing on " Ireland " and on " Scotland." NEWS SUMMARY. At last account General Grant was at Vieksburg. Tbe Irish associations in London are preparing a reception for Parnell. Hancock is the favorite of the majority of the Democratic delegation from Texas to the Cincinnati Convention. The President bas sent the nomination of William A. Newell, of New Jersey, for Governor of Washington Territory. A fire at Minneapolis, Minn., which amounted to a loss of f 106,000, was supposed to originate in spontaneous combustion. Ex-Empress Eugenic, before starting for Zululand, presented her very valuable crown to the Church of Notre Dame dcs Victoire, Paris. There is a terrible famine at Mosul, Turkish Koordistan. Four thousand inhabitants fled to Bagdad, aud huudreds more are on the way. FLOUR.—For the first two weeks in April the exports, in barrels, with destinations, were as follows: Tahiti, 2SJ; Honolulu, 783; Mexico, 29; Russian Asia. 2,725; Panama. 568; Central America, 3.723: Liverpool, 10; Bremen, 2»; Victoria, 83; China, 15,000 arid Japan, 675. By returns from the produce exchange, the stock in the State April Ist was 64,000 barrels, against 83,000 barrels January Ist. Receipts are small, and the demand for local uses and for export is fairly active. While the large stock of wheat on hand cheeks aty tendency to an advance in values, we do not look for lower prices in the near future, as currencies ruling all along have been rather below tbe cost of production and any margin of profit. Quick Cure for Poison Oak. A few months ago an eminent physician who had tested tbe remarkable curative qualities of Phosphate Soap for various skin diseases expressed his belief that it would be an excellent remedy for Poison Oak. It was accordingly tested tor this purpose. A boy had beeu so badly poisoned as t) be confined to his bed for a week, and had bis hands all covered with sores when he btuan to use Phosphate Soap. Within twenty-four hours he was greatly relieved and in a few days was entirely cured of Poison Oak by the use of Pftosphate Soap.
