I BLACKHEATH: | [From our Own Correspondent.] The annual vestn,- meeting of St. Aidan's Church was held in the Parish Hall on Friday evening ;last. There was only a fair attendance, the night being cold. Rev. G. F. Manning presided, and -opened the ?meeting -with prayer. The minutes of last year's annual meeting were read and con .firmed. Mr. John Neate, junr., Treasurer, sub mitted the balance-sheet, which showed the church .funds to be in a satisfactory condition, and which was adopted. The election of officers was then ?proceeded with. Mr. Manning appointed Mr. J. Neate, seur., clergyman's warden, and Dr. Parker and Mr. F. Doyle were re-elected people's war dens. Mr. Doyle, on behalf of the churchwardens, thanked the meeting tor re-election. Pie said it was most gratifying to work with Mr. Manning, and that everything during the year had gone on .most satisfactorily. Messrs', J. B. THE DREADNOUGHT FUND. The meeting convened b}^ the Mayor to inaugurate a Dreadnought Fund in Ka toomba, which would assist to swell the sum being raised all over the State, was held at the Council Chambers on Friday ?e veiling' last, and was only moderately at tended. The speakers were of one opinion , and all spoke as one man : that it was the duty of every citizen to give what he or she uuiuu ciiiora to tnis movement, rue tone of one or two of the speeches was hard to understand, as there is no call for expres sions of fear for the safety of the British Empire.
