TURF JOTTINGS. [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser — 22 December 1888

TURF JOTTINOS. [By "Vc?eair.."] Another Iloxlnn Day is at hand, and of cotrse one of its chief attractions is the nnlntl ilmeet of the Morwell itacing Club. I paid a visit to the' conrse 'on 'Thursday evening last and found it in splendid going order, the-work ordered to be done lhaving been well executed. A straight has been fenced off, which is a great in prevement, and the course is so anarkedoff witl Ilogs as to make it next to impossible to make a mistake.. In fact everything has been' done to make the mooting a "big success." Early in the afternoon Mr. Cnrnoy made his appearance with Major, whom he sent at the sticks. - Major is a big powerful bay, and, like all Landsborotgh's, junps like a deer. There is not much doubt about his standing up, bht I atm afraid he is too sluggish on the flat to get horne in the van. Next came Mr. Donaldson's Hicks. who was piloted over thile timber with Stove Powell in the pigskin. HIicks is another big bay, and stands off his jumps like a horn ...
