Maroochy Shire Council. ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the above Council was held in the shire hall. JTarabour, on Tuesday last, there being present: Councillors G. I* Bury (Chairman). S. Fountain, D. H. Mitchell. E. H. Arundell, S. Kelly, E. Beattie, R. Heddon, and T. D. Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Remington's Shute. The Chairman said that a state ment which misrepresented them, whether wilfully or not he could not say, had appeared in the Press regarding the work to be done on Remington's Shute. The rate payers in that district had promised to give £15 towards the expenses provided the council supplemented it by a like sum. So far they had not received a single shilling, and he, for one, would not spend any money until the amount promised was re ceived. Cr. Fountain : Did they promise to do work to that value or pay the amount ? The Chairman : They (the coun cil) were to pay £\ for £1, but they had not so far received anything. He...

Any person found engaged in shooting at any pigeon match, or for pleasure, sport, or pro6t of any kind whatsoever, on Sunday, or carrying fireanns on that day — penalty not exceeding ^5, nor less than £2. 2. Any constable may, without aiy warrant, arrest any person who shall be found shooting or carrying fireafms on Sunday, contrary to the Act, and convey him before a jus tice, unless he is carrying firearms for the protection of his life or pro perty, or the property of his employers, or a constable or other person so carrying arms for lawful purposes.

Coach Delayed. A mishap occurred to the Obf mail coach in. charge of Mr. W. Lickefedt on Saturday last, whereby it was delayed until the follotring day, though the mail was despatched per horses the same day. The coach was standing outside Mr. Whalley's store, when the horses became restive, and getting their; legs over tke pole sooa smashed it, so that it required the attention ,of the local blacksmith. Beyond tiiis no further damage was done.
