POLICE COURT. Tuesday, Nov. 7. ./(Before Messrs. Ritchie aiid D'Arcy.) POLICE V. MOBHIB. This case, for obstructing a watercourse, was withdrawn. ' - HAMMOND V IRWIN. This was an assault case in- which de fendant was fined 40s. and costs. towsb' police act. Two summonses were issued under this Act for keeping swine within the town boundary. The first was againBt Mr H. | Underbill, who was fined the lowest penalty, os., and costs. The second complaint was againBt Mr. McAlister, who stated that he had sold his pigs nt a loss to get them away, and under these circumstances, the Bench dis missed the case. TRESILIAN V. M'PAtTL, This was a complaint lodged by Mr. Tresilian, Sheep-inspector, against Mr. J. M'Paul, for neglecting to register his premises, as required by the 74th clause of the Diseases in Sheep Act. It is something connected with the fall of it, at this particular time, that have a few words to say. In ' the first place it is brought down by the agents, to prevent the trade from going into the hands, of those who are the agents for the butter sent' there from the adjacent colonies ; and a . very wise step they in my opinion have taken and if it were necessary, I believe, in your own interest, they would be justified in bringing it down so as to prevent the introduction of this article altogether.
