A. .«ngq«-gaga-« Ship News.- On Thursday last arrived from Port Jackson, the brig   Deveron, Captain Wilson.-She left Sydney yesterday fortnight, en countering extremely bad weather, which com- pelled her on Saturday last to put into Adventure Bay, where she rode out a tremendous gale of wind with a sea running mountains high ; she lost three anchors and one of her boats, and was obliged to cut away her main-maft and a cable to get out, after laying there three days, great part in immi- nent danger. The Boatswain of the vessel by some accident fell overboard, and was unfortunately drowned; and Captain Wilson, who jumped into the sea after him, narrowly escaped, after an inef- fectual effort to save him. The brig Jupiter, which has been lately taking in wheat at Launceston, will fill up with colonial produce at this port prior to her departure for Port Jackson.   The brig Hawies, with a cargo of wheat on board for Port Jackson, is expected to sail from   Launceston next week. Extracts. French Language.--To parody a famous expreffion of Mirabeau, it may be faid that " the French language is making the tour of the world." A French Journal is now printed at Smyrna, un- der the title of the " Spectateur Oriental ;" and another is publiflied in the Kuflian empire, at OdeiTa; two French papers appear at Madrid, the one entitled the " Régulateur," and the other the " Bouffole." England has its Courier de Londres j and feveral French Journals appear in various parts of Germany and Switzerland. Such are the ac- counts of the French themselves of their language. She left Plymouth the 27th June, and brings the following passengers: Captain Kneale (who left this port about twelve months ago Commander of the ship Mary, which safely reached England), Mr. Richard Aspenall, Mr. Thomas Aspenall, Mr. W.
