The Shire Officers. Some few months ago a sub-com mittee. comprising the President and Crs Moss, Thornton, Furze, <^nd Maloney, were appointed to inquire into the working of the Shire office, the auditor having reported that the work- being performed by the secretary was much too heavy. The committee presented its report to the council meeting on Tuesday The main recpmmendations were;— 1. That an assistant be provided for the secretary at a salary of 30s per week.'' (The method of distri buting the work of the various officers was detailed) 2. That the secretary be paid a salary' of-^23T p-r i.nnum from (he council and too from the trust. " 3. That engineer's salary be increased b^ ^io per annum 4. That | Dick be paid 9s per day ; BYidenand Grinter 8s per day and..McA3ki.ll and McVea.
