T h e competition was keen and the prices of some of the roads were quite reasonable. When it comes to Washington Island the prices seem high but the cost of transporting the crushers and ma- chinery to that point makes the dif- ference. However, if the town of Washington does not buy the crusher for their town as the county board made an appropriation for them, then it is up to them to insist that the coun- ty do the work, for by so doing the county will be compelled to transport the machinery to Washington Island and the cost will be charged to the highway fund.
