Kidney and Bladder Troubles Quickly Cured . [Newspaper Article] — Wallace's Farmer — 4 February 1898

Kidney and Bladder Troubles Quickly Cured . You May Have a Sample Bottle of the Great Discovery , Dr . Kilmer s Swamp-Root Sent Free by Mall . Men and women doctor their troubles so often without benefit , that they get discouraged and skeptical . In most such-cases serious mistakes are made in doctoring and in not knowing what our trouble is or what makes us sick . The unmistakable evidences of kidney trouble are pain or dull ache in the back , too frequent desire to pass water , scanty supply , smarting irritation . As kidney disease advances the face looks sallow or pale , puffs or dark circles under the eyes , the feet swell and sometimes the heart beats badly . Should further evidence be needed to find out the cause of sickness , then set urine aside for twenty-four hours ; if there is a sediment or settling it is aleo convincing proof that our kidneys and bladder need doctoring . A fact often overlooked , is that women suffer as much from kidney and bladder trouble as men do ....

Notice to Subscribers . [Newspaper Article] — Wallace's Farmer — 4 February 1898

Notice to Subscribers . We are almost daily in receipt of numerous complaints from subscribers who say that Wallaces Farmer does not reach them , and an investigation of these complaints invariably shows that the time for which the paper was paid for has expired and consequently the name has been taken from the list . All subscribers should keep in mind the fact that Wallaces Farmer stops when the time is out unless the sub scription is renewed . Sometimes when we are unusually rushed In our subscription department those whose subscriptions are expiring get one or possibly two , papers overtime , but this is the exception and not the rule . We have adopted the policy of stopping when the time is out not because we are afraid to trust our readers but simply because it is business . Its the only way we have of knowing whether our readers want the paper or not . If they send the money for It we know they want it ; if they dont send the money it Is good evidence to us that they dont wan...

OH Meal for Pregnant Stock . [Newspaper Article] — Wallace's Farmer — 4 February 1898

OH Meal for Pregnant Stock . A correspondent from Marshall County , Iowa , submits the following questions : Will oil meal injure mares iliat are in foal ? If not , how much can they be fed per dayV Is it safe to feed It to cows In calf , or sows that will farrow in two or three months ? How niudh should be fed ? Oil meal some times causes abortion when fed in large doses before the system is used to the change . When fed In very small doses and increased gradually it does not seem to have any bad effect Unless intended as a regulator of the bowels or to balance up an unbalanced ration , we do not know why it should be fed at all . It is quite valuable for these purposes , amd we do not hesitate to use it . The usual ration to begin with in feeding cattle is half a pound a day . Using it simpLy as a regulator of the bowels we would not care to give more than one-fourth of a pound to title brood mare or the cow in calf . Better commence with an eighth of a pound , or two ounces , and...
