The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and after some discussion relative to the wording of a motion that had previously been adopted, were approved. A communication was read from the Outta Percha Mtg. Co., of Chi cago, agreeing to furnish ' rubber hose coupling gaskets at the rate of five cents each, when ordered in lots of 100. On motion the deputy clerk was instructed to order 100 for the use of the fire department. CITY HEWS. : The city council - lield a brier session last evening, the onlysbusi? ness transacted being- the approval of a few small bills and the accept ance of a minor report made by one ot the standing1 committees. There is a great amount ot sickness among children in the city, principally confined to colds and sore throat. Last Friday fourteen pupils were absent from the school Toom in which Miss Carlson teaches on account of sickness. The annual meeting of the members of the Presbyterian church will be held at the. .church on Wednesday evening Feb'y 5th, at which time the election of offi cers of the church for the ensuing year will be held. A half dozen of more local re publicans are already laying plans to attend the national convention at St. Louis next June.
