Mr. Daniels addressed the Senate in support of the amendment. It was rejected; yeas 17, nays 27. Mr. Allison believed that some of the rates in tho wool schedule were to high. Hepublican members of the llnauco committee, however, had leeu told by their Democratic associates to go on and make up the bill to suit themselves and that they (the Democrats) would content themselves with offering amendments to it, and therefore tho bill was not treated on both sides ...
