THE JAMESTOWN ALERT. ISSUED EVERY TUESDAY MORNING BY MARSHALL MCCLUKE. DBLEGATEISHIP. Territorial politics seem to be very breezy just now over in the hills and down in the cow counties. The "boys" iirc trying very lia:d to convince us that the Republican party is very "hard up" for delegate timber. Once Mr. Pettigrew was considered by liis neighbors as a tolerably clever, shrewed sort ot a person. His moral health was gLod but in an evil hour he was seized with "delegate fever." The doctors pre scribed for him and now the mystery is, us to how he has kept out of the peniten tiary. Mr. Bennett was thought to be a gen tleman who represented Dakota in a man ner that reflected credit upon the men who sent him to Washington, but now, alas we are reminded that he is only a carpet bagger, and a very ordinary one at that. Mr. Raymond was a man of real ability, clever, sociable, a gentleman who had done much and suffered some for his belief iu republicanism in the past. By advanc ing m...

A great deal lias been said- about the the letter which Hancock wrote to Ser mau in 1876. Mysterious hints have been given out, by republican journals that it it was ever published it would prove conclusively that lie was the very reverse of a loyal soldier. We have no reason for not believing him personally to be a loyal man, and we do think it is not the thing, for the party who brought the war to a successful close, to malign tlie career of one of the men ...
