Interesting Statistics of Hydrophobia. On the fourth of July t, the French secretary ttf the Interior communlcnted to the Academy of Science in Pari, a report concemlnif all the eaten of hydrophobia which had come to the knowledge of hie employee from 18B3 to 18(19. Only eight out of the one hundred departments Into which France it divided, failed to lend in reports, whilst in thirty department! more naa not occurred a eingio case oi hy drophobia. In the remaining forty-nine department 820 personi were bitten by maddoM. In 129 canes the biting was followed by hydrophobia! in 123 case the bitten persons suffered from no evil consequence, and It was never made known what became of the remaining 08. How Mark Twain Once Edited an Agricultural Paper. I mo not take the temporary editorship of an agricultural paper without misgiv ings. Neither would a landsman take command of a ship without misgivings. But I was In circumstances that made the salary an object. The regular editor of the paper was roIdr off lor a holiday, and I accepted the terms he offered, aud took his place. The sensation of being at work again was luxurious, and I wrought all the week with nnflagged pleasure.
