Mr. Avert, the nominee for Congress, is an able ard eloquent gentleman who did valuable service to the cause in the canvaBsor Jastyear. He was formerly a Whig, but united himself to the Democratic party on the organiration of the Know-Nothing Order, and has ever since fought gallantly on our side.
