It will be remembered that Dr. Dowling, of the State Board of Health, when in Bogalusa a short time ago, caused the arrest of two men who were conducting a medicine show. The case against J. F. Hays was called for trial Saturday and Mr Hays acted as his own attorney and proved to be capable of looking af ter his own interests despite the fact that the head of the State Board of Health was the States best witness.
