Grover's outfit, tennis shoes, two six guns, a tee shirt, scarf, sunglasses, and Aggie hat certainly secured his second place selection in the Most Unusual category. —Times Photo Pets Display Winning Form SM1THV1I.LE—You might think it unusual to see a dog in blue jeans or a cat in a calico dress, or even a fish that swims backwards, but the annual Jamboree Pet Show had it all. There were ten different cate- gories of entries; the categories and winners are as follows: In the Must Curly division, only one contestant entered. Therefore first place went to Willie, a lamb, shown b> Fonda Marrs. In the Most Unusual division, first place went to Pearl, a chin- chilla, shown by George Cameron. M. Tintsman, Director of Administra- tion for the LCRA, released the findings of his investigation into the alleged misuse of company mater- ials and employee time at the Sim Gideon power plant outside of Bas- trop. Allegations brought against sup- ervisors A. E. Jones and Dan Boone at the Gideon plant centered around the use of LCRA materials and em- ployee time to fabricate or repair items for private use. This type of work is commonly referred to as a "government job." Tintsman's report cites various findings. Among those are: • There were five or possibly six instances in which personal items of significant size or value were fab- ricated at the plant out of "scrap" or "jun...

APRIL 13 1978 HHItttliltllllllllHIIIlllli Uir* inions Just A Hand Slap No! everyone is thrilled with the report released by the LCRA last week concerning the misuse of materials and employee time by Sim Gideon supervisors. "Whitewash" and "coverup" arc some common words being bandied about in connection with the investigation and the findings which resulted. Although all the allegations "held water," so to speak, offend- er* were let off with not much more than a hand slap The recommendations set down by I intsman sound fine Vet the implementation of those recommen- dations is being left up to the same level personnel who were found at fault. No check system was set up It's rather like leaving the cat to babysit the mouse. No matter how you try to get around it, it is the consumer who must absorb the cost of such abuses, with skyrocketing utility bills. I for one don't wish to foot tin- bill for an l.< RA...

That time of day is designated as "7th Period," and in most schools, it is used as a study hall. That's in most schools—at Elgin Junior High, 7th period each day is filled with six-week long extracurricular classes. The classes are taught by junior high teachers, high school teachers, and volunteers from the community, and cover a wide area of enrichment areas. Courses offered in the past have included: current events, needle- point, puppetry, Spanish and Black history, drama, and cosmetology.
