In that game last Friday in Piano, the Lady Pirates scrapped and fought to a tie for seven innings, before allowing the winning to come home on a walk. "It was so hard to lose that game," said sophomore first baseman Jackie Stanley. "It was so intense. We were so focused in," she said. II state champi- onship in Houston. Piano East came out strong taking a 6-2 first quarter lead. Nicholas Brooks, Jack Cavanaugh, Andrew Monaco, and Alex Kroviak scored goals to lead the offensive unit. Mark Merino, assigned to cover Piano West star Robert Jones, limited him to one goal in the first quarter. Goalie Alex Chervenak had 11 of his 18 saves in the first quarter. The participants rotate through areas where they are able to perform the tasks. Julie performs at a high level and can do all of the steps in the process. Volunteers also rotate through various parts of the process working with different participants at different times. Another participant, Mary Jo Scanlan, sits at a table tying togeth- er a pink and aqua baby blanket. Fine motor skills are required for this project. At 50, Mary Jo is the oldest of the participants. She clear- ly enjoys what she is doing and watches everyone as they work. Many of the volunteers are mem- bers of Pure Heart Fellowship, but not all. Interment followed in the Wylie Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Richey officiated. Mr. Foster died May 17 in Piano. He was born July 15, 1942 in Dallas to Lester Lee and Odie Merle (Clark) Foster. He married Wanda Sue (Hensley) Foster on June 14, 1963 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wylie. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sue Foster of Wylie; sons, Chris Foster and Shawn Foster, both of Nevada; brother, Phillip Foster of Wylie; six grandchildren; and dear friend and cousin, Robert Krantz. The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Green of Wylie. The wedding is planned for 7 p.m. June 4 at First Baptist Church of Lavon.
