Never use a soiled powder-puff — they clog );he pores and cause black heads.- Soap, left on the face; makes it dry and harsh. You must use soap, so rinse it off thoroughly. Shampoo your hair regularly'. Do ???' not put it off when you know it is ; time to shampoo it. Dull hair, which has lost its freshness and sheen, de tracts greatly from a woman's appear ance. [?] Producing a Newspaper In Air Haids (By BRIAN R. ROBERTS, Chief Sub-Editor the London 'Daily Telegraph.') IF casualties are a criterion, civilians are at the * moment as much in the front lin© as the Navy or the R.A.F. and more so than the Army; nor, I think, would they have it otherwise. The outposts of this civilian force engaged in the Battle of Britain are the men in reserved occupations, doing work of im portance to the national war effort, and not least among these are the men — and women — who produce a great news paper. My purpose is to give an ac count of the efforts made to maintain that accuracy- and punctuality in the face of difficulty and danger. Two things must be understood as a background to this account. First, the production of a newspae...

CITIES OF THE WORLD Venice and Its Gondolas [Newspaper Article] — Albury Banner Wodonga Express and Riverina Stock Journal — 17 January 1941

[?] Venice and Its Gondolas Coming' from Florence to Venice wasn't as pretty as the trip from Rome. Lots more tun nels — some we were in for a good quarter of an hour. There are no cars or vehicles of any description on the streets. There couldn't be really as they go over bridges (up steps) every few yards. There were stalls down the middle of lots ol the streets, which vary in width from about three yards wide to about six. In St. Mark's Square, which is vcr^ beautiful, wo stopped to admire some Venetian glass when the man came out and invited us to see the glass being blown. ; He insisted on taking us to his factory, so we tailed him down a few streets and across the canal in a gondola' into Ms factory. I'd never seen glass 'blowers 'before. It was interesting and looked quite easy. Of course, they tried to sell us some when they'd finished showing us round the place and didn't appreciate it when we asked them what we 'd use for money. In Venice they don't seem to iave indoor caf...
