NARANDERA LAND BOARD. Mondav, Mabch 25. (Continued from supplement.) Honorah Luke v. Miss Miller. Tl\i8 was a claim by Honorah Luke v. Miss Miller in regard to fencing a C.P., 160 acres. Mr de Boos appeared for the claimant Miss, Miller; aud Mr Foabery appeard for Honorah Luke. The point in dispute in this case was whether the claimant, Mrs Luke, could hold Official Assignee in the insolvent estate of her husband. Mr de Boos contended that Mrs Luke hod no title to the land. Mr Fosbery argued that the Official Assignee having sola, the right to the land to Mrs Luke, it was not for the Board to say she could not purchase, and therefore it was tbe duty of the Board to decide on the claim for the fencing. The Board held that Honorah liuke being a married woman not living apart from her husband was not eligible to hold the laud and therefore could not prefer the claim. A similar finding was recorded in reference to a like claim brought against Donald M'Lean. Trustees of Hon. E. Flood r. ...

NEW SOUTH WALES WHEAT. [Newspaper Article] — Narandera Argus and Riverina Advertiser — 26 March 1895

NEW SOUTH WALES WHEAT. At Messrs Brunton and Company'* mills at Clyde, on TiosJsy, a test was inaieof a number of bulk samples of wheat obtained from twenty different districts of New South Wales, with the object of ascertaining their relative values for. mill ing purposes. The samples tested were taban infiifanrtminntnlv from hulk CdnBicn ttieota, a standard bushel measure being filled in eich case and weighed. The average weight of the twenty samples was proved to be GOJIb, which is above the Tictorian ani below the South Australian averages! for tbe season, the former being 58}lb and the latter 62Jlb. The usual Australian average is set down by standard antliorities at from 621b to 651b per buehel, and the revolts of the test came as a pleasant surprise to those who made them. bs it was not expected that tbo New South Wales wheat this season would come no near the standard weights, as in most of t.lie wheat-growing districts tbe rainfall io November waB extremely limited in quan ...

MOUNT IDA DISTRICT SUPPRESSING RABBITS. March 18. [Newspaper Article] — Narandera Argus and Riverina Advertiser — 26 March 1895

MOUNT IDA. DISTRICT SUP. PRESSING RABBITS. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT). March 18. The first meeting of the above Mount Ida District Progress League was held on March 9 at the residence of Mr Chas. Hough, Mount Ida. There was a large attendance, all parts of the district being represented. Mr Dun was voted the chair. In opening the meeting the chairman said the idea seemed pre valent in some quarters, that the associa tion was formed to look after the interests of the farmers of the district solely; in   order to emphasise the fact this was not so, be would suggest that the association be called a 'Progressive League', and   would be glad if some gentleman would move a motion to that effect. Mr Neil McInnes thought it immaterial under what name the association worked, so long as the object in view was the general welfare of the district. However, as the intention ini forming tbe association was to work for tbe benefit of landowners, whether far mers or graz...
