The Selling of Produce. [Newspaper Article] — Northern Star — 13 January 1877

The Selling of Produce. The settler has not merely the work of production to carry on properly in order to be successful ; he must also combine some- thing of' the habit of the dealer or merchant. It is not uncommon to see a shrewd hand make more of an inferior crop than one who has less of the commercial       instinct makes of quite a superior product. The first point to be laid down in reference to the value of grain or forage crops, not to mention minor products, is that, if the price obtainable is likely to be at all uniform throughout the season, the sooner such crops can be. disposed of the better for the owner ; and this for the simple reason that they are   all liable to a greater or less extent to lose in weight by keeping besi...
