I had somehow con? ceived teJT^nolion that the moisture came up irotn lelow by capillary at? traction ; but a moment's reflection convinced me that this notion was erroneous, and I now asked myself seriously for the first time "Why is it ?" and the answer quickly came : "The moisture comes out of the atmosphere the same as dew."
