Recent ominous despatches from Washington which havo found their way into the daily press havo filled the public heart with fenrs that tho life of Scnntor Foot, of Vermont, was in jeopardy. Those fears havo been realized. The death of Senator Colla tner last November was a grievous blow to Vermont from which she has by no means recovered, and now tho loss of another of her most distin guished men fills her cup with Borrow to overflowing. Tho Hon. Solomon Foot, tho great-hearted and faithful Senator from Vermont, died at Wash ington, on "Wednesday, March 28th, 18GC, in tho Gith year of his age.
