A great many persona were in town, the moct ol whom were at tending Court, and as a tbatter of course, considerable excitement prevailed. Soon a large number of people were on their Tray to the npnt whence the cry of " fire," " fire," troceedcd. Ye local was among the num ber. Arriving at the large and comoodiom rc-sideneo of Dr. IP Hiack. and which was used by him as one of th a two hotels of iJolivar, it was plain to be seen that the alarm bell had not been struck without cause.
