Farm and Household. Potatoe Rolls. Boil 2 lbs. potatoes, pass through a colander, or mash thern well, add 2 oz. batter and a pint of milk, a little salt, 1 gill yeast, and as much flour as will make a 'soft dousrh, set them to rise, when light cut them in cakes, let them rise i hour, and bake. Sweet potatoes'inake beau tiful biscuit, mix as above. Potatoe Pone. A faroritc dish in the AVest In dia Islands. Wash, peel, and grate two pounds of potatoes, add four ounces each of sugar and butter (or beef drippmgj melted, one teaspoon Jul each ot salt and pepper, mix well together, place it in a baking dish, and put it into a brisk oven until it is done, and becomes nicely browned. Stewed Figs. Put into a stewpan four ounces of sugar; the thin rind of a large lemon! and a pint of cold water. When the sugar is dissolved add 1 pound-of best figs, and place the pan on a stove, so that the fruit may swell gently .and stew very slowly. When quite tender, add the strained juice of two lemons.
