The work is now almost completed. A Boston pnper says : "Tin* lane, a century ago, was a cow-path, and during the Kevolutionary war was made a prominent passage way for the American troops t<> go through with field-pieces, tor tin* pur|>oseof firing upon tin- British fleet lying off Charlestown. Tilts Commercial Bulletin TUESDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 7, 1865 LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. The City Council. —A called meeting of the Council was held on yesterday afternoon. Messrs. Burr, Epps, Scott, Lee, Stokes, Clopton, Grattan, Griffin and Richardson were present, Mr. Scott presiding in the absence of Mr. Saunders. Gas Works- The following ordinance was adopted: An Ordinance to amend the 26th section of an ordinance concerning the Gas Works circulation Be it ordained bv the Council ol the city or Richmond, That the 26th section of an ordinance concerning the Gas Works be so amended at to read as follows: Sec. 26. With the exception of what is used in the street lamps or in a building or upon land belonging to the city, gas shall never be furnished without charge therafor. It may be furnished at the rate of $2 per thousand feet to any such association or benevolent institution as the Council may by resolution declare entitled lo receive it at that rate, in conslderatlon of the public benef...
