Cricket. MORWELL IT. MIIRBOO. At length the ice is broken, and thid local tricketers have atitally played a match--and won it! Well, it is i gordl boegnhling, but we are Iound to say we feel duhlllus about future entgagemlents should the practice gron,ld Ie as little frequentttl as in the past. On Saturday soale of nour "cracks ". of last tear were decidedly "oft color," tha Iowling ofMlessrs. Unoike, BIarnett, and Ferguson being the only branch of the game worthy of muention.. The batting wras miseimble, while 'the' fielding was not ,much better. The Mirnoo men, on'the other hanld, showed nll improvement on last year, and although beaten ladly, played a fair gAune, andt displayel ant earnestness in their work Morwell would do well to imtitate. The. long continoanco of the drought has boon seriously exorcising the sueredotal mind, and it has been determined to once more test the efficacy of prayer in obviating the calhmities which the want of ral i·nvariahly entails upon an Australian coninimnity. Somne clergymen are uttering o half-hearted protent bgeinet praying for rain while facilities for irrigation surround us on overy hand, facilities which no man atteonpts to make ine of. It is :alontat painful to observe" the 'hesitency withl which even the boldest among our clerics approach this subject.
