TEACHER AND BABY [Newspaper Article] — Upper Murray and Mitta Herald — 5 February 1914

TEACHUK AXD BABY Mre Bridget Peixotto and her baby .ire making more history. She was dismissed because she stayed at home while her baby was being born (says "Public Opinion.") Justice Seabury, in the United States Supreme Court, has orderd her to be re stored to the teaching staff out of which the New Yorlc City Board of Education thrust her "for neglect of duty" when she was absent to bear the baby. Mrs Peixotto argues that it is absurd to say that it is impossible to give the proper attention to your work when one has a baby, or that it is ne cessary to neglect the baby to give the proper attention to work.
