THE SITTING. The Commission sat at the-Shire Hanll ves. terday for the purpose of taking any cvidence tendered. MIr. MIirams, M.L.A., presided. J. A. Taylor, having been sworn, stated that he was a hopgrower, and had been engaged six years in the industry in the colony. 1He had an aggregate of 88 acres of land, and' had 18 acres under hops, cultivat. ing garden seed crops on a portion of tile re malnder. He commenced hopgrowing with :? acres. lie was tartly present as a repre sentative of the Gippslsnd Ilopgrowess' As sociation. He commenced with 3.1 neres of hops. The following year hbe planted 4 more. That and the following year he found the industry not remunerative, and he lost be tween £1300 and £1400.
