SYDNEY. FBIDAT, October 25. Heavy floods have occurred at Tumut and Adelong, accompanied with great destruction of property, and the death of drowning by one man of the name of Grand. The lodge of English Masons has voted £600 for the endowment of a scholarship for the Sydney University. A collision occurred on the Northern Bail way, near 6ingleton, last Monday. Three carriages became detached from the train. Sixty of the passengers were seriously injured. Hr. Linklater, the barrister, hns been com mitted for trial on a chargc of bigamy. It Is stated that the Government propose to call Parliament together for a short session merely to pass the estimates. At the Horticultural Show, the Queensland tiommissioncr won the silver medal for two cycads. On Thursday the weather was very hot, and the attendance at the Exliibition was meagre.

The preliminary work of defining the faonndaries of the country over which the boards an to have juris diction is now occupying the attention of the staff in the Surveyor-General's office in Brisbane. This work can be greatly simplified and improved if tea dents in the inland townB will co-operate with the Government by assisting them with ' information. The Ministry are desirous of obtaining this information, and promise to act upon it. It is desir able that a district should contain only those property holders whoBe interests are identical, and therefore it is under arable that too extended an area of country should be brought under the control of one board.
