This cvcr-welcome Club , composed of many of the leading business men of Philadelphia , arrived in Gettysburg on their annual trip last Saturday afternoon . In accordance with their custom , that evening a most enjoyable progiam was rendered by them in Brua Chapel . The irresistible Corporal Smith was master of ceremonies , made the opening addiess , and in his characteristic way introduced the remaining numbers . The Corporal is a survivor of the battle and states that his regiment was called the 118 th Penn a because it is just I iS miles from Philadelphia to Gettysburg . We next had the pleasure of hearing from the President of the Club , Lawyer R . O . Moon , who spoke of the trio— Gettysburg , College , Columbia Club , paid a glowing tribute to the Schmucker Memorial project and concluded his spirited talk with a fi...

The day was cloudy and just cool enough foi quick , snappy football . Univ . of Maryland flushed by two victoiics o \ er college teams in Baltimore , accompanied by over a hundied looters , came to Gettysburg with the intention ol beating us in great style , but the score tells a different tale The game was exciting fiom start to finish , and the only thing that marred the enjoyment of the game was the dispute , during the second half , concerning Maiyland s right to attempt to kick the goal gained by the second touchdown .
