SKILL OF DOCTORS TESTED . Fifteen Years of Suffering . I thought I should surely die . ¦ When the stomach begins to fail in Its duties , other organs speedily become affected in sympathy , and life is simply a burden almost unbearable . Indigestion and dyspepsia are so common that only the sufferer from these diseases kno ^ ys the possibilities of misery that inhere in them . Atypical example of the sufferings of the victim of indigestion is furnished in the case of John C . Pritchard . He went on for fifteen years , from bad to worse . In spite of doctors he grew constantly weaker , and thought he would die . He got well , however , and thus relates his experience : For fifteen years I was a great sufferer from indigestion in its worst forms . I tested the skill of many doctors , but grew worse and worse , until I became so weak I could not walk fifty yards without haying to sit down and rest . My stomach , liver , and heart became affected , and I thought I would surely die . I tr...

Woman and Home [Newspaper Article] — Farmers Voice — 19 February 1898

Woman and Home Sometime Sometime we shall know why Our sunniest mornings change to noons of rain , And why our steps are shadowed so by pain , And why we often lie On couches sown with thorns of care and doubt ; And why our lives are thickly hedged about With liars that put our loftiest iiltuis to rout . Sometime we shall know why Our dearest hopes are swept so swift away . And why our brightest : flowers first decay ; Why song is lost in sigh , Why clasping HngeVs slip so soon apart ; Estrangement , space and death rend heart from heart , Until from deepest depths the tear-drops start . Sometime we shall know Kach other , aye , us wc ourselves are known , And- see how out of darkness light has grown ; And he who loves us so Despite our wilfulness and blind complaint , Will show us how his kind and calm restraint Can mold a human soul into a saint . Sometime our eyes shall see The silver lining In the-darkest cloud , AVhile silvery echoes follow thunders loud ; , Sometime our hearts...

A Wonderful Statement From Mrs . J . S . McGlllas , of 113 Kilbura Avenue , Kockford , 111 . I was dreadfully ill—the doctors said they could cure me , but failed I could not see for several minutes . I could not stand very long without feeling ; sick and vomiting 1 . I also had female weakness , inflame mation of ovaries , painful menstruation , displacement of the womb , itching of the external parts , and ulceration of the womb . I have had all these complaints . The pains I had to stand were something dreadful . My husband told me to try a bottle of Lydia E . OUR WEEKLY REVIEW [Newspaper Article] — Farmers Voice — 19 February 1898

OUR WEEKLY REVIEW Receipts To-Day , 13 . 000 Cattle , 40 ,. 000 Hogs , 14 . 000 Sheep Cattle riarket 10 c Lower Hog riarket 5 c Lower , but Active Sheep Market Very Slow CATTLE Thursday , Feb . 17 . The receipts of cattle up to the present time this week -will be about 55 , 600 against 47 , 122 for the corresponding time last week . Last week s total was 50 , 798 against 49 , 531 for 1897 and 50 , 532 for 1896 . Last week s market closed in just about the same shape as the date of our last report ; while the trade was a little slow , prices showed little if any change and everything was sold . Monday , with 19 , 952 , we had a good trade on anything good enough for export purposes , and in fact , ripe cattle of good quality , no matter what the weight , sold well . Other cattle sold perhaps a shade lower , but take it altogether it was a strong trade considering the number of cattle . Tuesday , with 4 , 422 , there was no difference to speak of from the close of the day before . Alt...

The solvers gave No . 1-a total average rating of 05 points , and No . 2 a total average rating of 77 ( plus ) points . Towers' Surface Cultivators [Newspaper Article] — Farmers Voice — 19 February 1898

Towers Surface Cultivators The proper culture of Indian corn has much to do with producing a full crop . For generations a mistake was made by man of plowing too deep when the object was to loosen the soil and check the growth of weeds . Observation and experiment has taught progressive farmers the inestimable worth of shallow culture . The writer has observed com in adjoining fields varying twenty bushels to the acre in favor of the surface process . Following this policy the full quota of roots is not disturbed . In case the weather is dry the pulverized surface acts as a blanket to retain moisture . The Implement shown , known as Towers Cultivator , has been , tested many years in the corn field , and la now indorsed by all who have tried it . It will be observed that the workman may ride or walk as may be his pleasure . The manufacturers ^ iave an exhaustive treatise on corn culture , including many testimonials from all parts of the corn-growing regions , • which they are pleas...
