?ns PACIFIC Commercial Advertiser. A Thbimisq Incident. Returning from SPijait to New Orleans, we were fortunate to secure passage on a line steamer with but few passengers. Among the ladies one especially interested us. She was the . widow of a wealthy planter, and was returning with only one child to her father's house. Her devotion to the child was raj touching, and the eyes of her old black nurse would fill with tears as she besought her mistress "not to Iotc that boy too much, or the Lord would take him away from ber." We paseexl - through tbe canal at Louisville and stopped fur a few minutes at the wharf, when the nurse wishing to see the city walked out on the guard at tbe back of the boot, where by a sadden etfort the child sprang from her arms into the terrible current that swept towards the tills, and disappeared immediately. The confu-: sion which ensued attracted the attention of a gentle. : man who was sitting in the front part f the boat, j quietly reading. Rising hast...

In the deep, full affection of a wife's heart, the hns- nana nnas tbat appreciation and interest which erery soul covets. This stimulates his enterprises. This makes him brave in peril. This cheers his hard labor. This comforts him under irritation, slander, reproach, m the outside world. To ...
