NORTHERN TRIBUNE. SATURDAY. MAY 5, 1877. CONCENTRATED EFFORT. A colony of two hundred families have ecured a location and lands from the railroad, in the vicinity of Mancelona, on the Grand Rapids & Indiana railroad, and are now coming in every few days by the carload. The above Information was given us a few days since in r. casual con versation by a person wbo had just pass ed through that country, and knew from observation whereof he spoke Only a few days ago the Detroit papers chronicled the passage through that city of a large party o: emigrants from the vicinity of Quebec, Canada, en route for Manatoba. They were well equipped with household goods and farming uten sils, and beside were taking with them 100,000 in money. Almost every month we read of colo nies settling upon the lines of the North ern Pacific railroad or some other point. The question is, how does it happen that chese colonies locate in tuis place or that ? It is not brought about without an effort, and some...
