I Just a word about pistol toting: There is not a day passes but that the big dailies have to record an instance where some one has snuff ed out the life of a fellow-brother. However, there is a class of men who cling to the habit of pistol toting in spite of all...

More Reform Shown Vp. By removing Arthur Trelfortl, superintendent of the territoral penitentiary, for inhuman treat ment of convicts, the acting gov ernor, J. W. Raynolds, did right. In fact, he did the only tiling open to him. His action will be ap proved and endorsed by the peo pie of New Mexico. The Citizen congratulates him. Despite the weak defense of Treiford by the Morning Journal, the report of Attorney General George W. Prichard shows clearly that Trel- ord was unfit to be in charge of any prison outside of Russia per haps. By appointing Marion Littrell, sheriff of Colfax county, as prison superintendent, the acting govern or is above criticism. The Morn ing Journal, which is quite adept at discovering plots and conspir acies, even where thev do not ex ist, is unable to say one word a gainst Sheriff Marion Literell. As an officer and a man, he has a rec ord to be proud of. The strange part of it was that the late boy executive, Hagerman, was unable to find a man in New Mex...
