In the absence of the Mayor the town clerk reported1 re the interview between the Mayor with himself and MrJobson, of the Public Works De partment. We have already published particulars of ihe interview. The town clerk also reported re the meeting on Saturday night, in inference to the facilitation of electoral registration » Cr. Ward asked if the expenses in connection with that meeting were to be paid by the council. The town clerk replied that he had no special instructions in the matter, and he presumed that the payment would be made by the council until further instructions were received. O i Saturday night while two boys, named Sydney Parks and-'Frnnk John son,- were making fireworks at a cbemist's-shop in King William-street, a pound and a half of gunpowder exploded through one of the lads firing a cracker. Parks was so badly -injured' that he died this evening. Four other inmate of the house were also seri ously hurt.. The disclosures made, he said, caused him to live in, a few hours, many years of his life. He had entrusted Meagher to ask Dean in the most solemn manner possible, whether he was innocent or guilty.
