Finley. Wednesday. [Newspaper Article] — Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser — 8 April 1898

JFInley. Wcdnesnday. Signs of animation about this place are now sticking up like quills on a porcupine. , The town presents quite a busy appearance 1 with the number of men, vehicles, dogs, etc, that are to be seen in the streets, and the sights to be seen are reminiscent, of boom | mining towns. Old residents are electrified, I and now they have heaps of interestafforded them by : watching1: the navvies nt work. They'ro good at it, that is; watching it. Thomson's well for, at least, nil household purposes, nnd have reason to bo deeply grateful to thnt gentle man for this neighborly concession. A few of them nre carting from the Billabong, but that too is becoming alarmingly low. I hear there arc some fine fish being caught in con sequence. Tank-sinking, well-repairing and prospecting for water by bores is the order of the day. A few small soaks have been discovered in sandhills, but though small they prove a boon to the lucky prospector Grass is fairly nbundant and taken all round I think the state of our district compares favorably with March 1897. . A grcnt deal of dissatisfaction ...
