COUNTRY MINING AND GENERAL NEWS. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) December 3rd, 1883. [Newspaper Article] — North Australian — 7 December 1883

COUNTRY MCNING AND GENERAL NEWS. (FROM Olîlî OWN' COniîKSPOXniîN'T.) LVeoiidim- 3rd, 1883. DEATH has hoon again amongst us dur- ing tho week. On Tuesday last John Redgrave, tho blacksmith at. Port Dar- win Camp, died, it is supposed, from general debility, but in the absence of any medical testimony this is only surmise. T saw Mr. A. IT Keall cn his return from the Howley, where he had been called in to attend the teamster, Jacob Ruchardt, who was run over by a loaded waggon. Mr. Keall tells me that thc man was su Hering from internal injuries which he considered he could have operated ii]ton with success had tho man had sullicient confidence in his skill, but as he was not duly qualified, the poor fellow hesitated to undergo the operation until it was too late to be of any uso. Such a glaring injustice as this delay in providing the reefing dis- tricts with a medical mau is, T presume to state, one of the most disgraceful actions ever permitted to exist in nj civilised community.
