During last, we4lr several cows grazing on the Laverton common died suddenly sliad as the result of nm exami;a tion made on the caredse of one of the dead beasts-it was dis covered the canse of death was anthrax. As a precaution against thet disease all cattle in the district were at once inooulrted. As anthrax made .its appearance at L?verton about seven months agn it is evident that the district is not free from the germs of the disease. A strong feeling exists locally that the only way to rid the ground of the disease would be to burn off all the grass on the commrn.
