' The municipal contest over, thn next; item to engagfl attention is tbe election of Mayor, Concerning that important DfficUl position very little, if anything, has transpired up to the present. ; It is an appointment wliicli rests entirely in the hinds of the courcP, the Mayor being elected by tlie aldermen from among their own number. The Mayor will be elected at a special meeting of the council. ? : '' WAlpine's company played at the School of Arts on the 5tb instant.
