OUR SHORT STORY. The Acrobat. A SKETCH. After much coasideration 1 decided to have the Acrobat repaired. Mv people and friends had almost worried the life out of me to have the job dons. It was not, however, from any desim to please them that 1 oame to the de cision, but because the thing had al most been guilty of making an enemy of one of my beat friends. Tbe aorobat was an old umbrella of which I was very fond. One of the ribs had come out of tbe socket, and when the gingham was closed stuck out from the top like a flag pole. A stay was broken, which if yon were not very careful, dangled uncomfort ably on your bead when walking. The handle was bent — but this was rather an advantage than otherwise, for the bend fitted nicely to your shoulder, relieving you of a certain amount of weight, which, in the Acrobat was a considerable item. Mine was alto gether a novel umbrella. Anyone can be tbe owner of an ordinary gamp — provided they have the money to buy one. But someone is sure to ...
