The mortality ftom measles has nnquestionabiy been very great in Sydney, and it is a disease ^g^mct which every reasonable precaution should certainly be taken. When seven persons in one family are cut off, and four in another, the uncommon virulence of tfc£ epidenuc can no longer be questioned. It is held by many persons that everyone must have the measles at some period or other in his lifetime, and therefore that quarantine regulations ought not to be brought to bear upon an epidemic of that nature. Bat it -is reasonably con tended that thousands of persons in (he colonies have escaped measles, and that it is a disease which no one need be anxious to encounter.
