KEW MUNICIPALITY.   FIRST HALF-YEARLY MEETING OF THE KEW MUNICIPAL COUNCIL, FROM THE 12th JANUARY TO THE 12th JULY, 1861. THE municipal district was proclaimed on the 19th December, 1860, in the Government Ga zette, No. 165. The first election of councillors took place on the 12th January, 1861, when Messrs. Wharton, Carson Cranwell, Lewis, Fox, Oswin, and Derrick were elect ed. At the first meeting of council, held 15th January, 1861, Geo. Wharton, Esq., was unanimously elected chairman. Committees were appointed for public works, finance and legislation, and health. Messrs. Geo. Bell and S. Robertson were appointed to the offices of town clerk and surveyor respectively. VALUATION AND ASSESSMENT. Messrs Pritchard and Fishley were appointed val lators for the municipality.
