TO THE EDITOR. Sir—I note your remarks in to day's issue re increased accommoda tion at the Pirie school, and while I have no wish to undervalue what the " Recorder' and the members for our district have done in this matter, I would like to point out in fairness to the Board of Advice that directly after our appointment we visited the school for the express purpose of ascertaining what was required in the shape of additional accommodation. I wrote the Minister of Education, making certain recommendations, and told himplainly that unless increased accommodation were provided we would not enforce compulsory atten dance clause. This resulted in bringing Chief Inspector Stanton on the scene, who, accompanied by the Mayor and myself, went to the school and thoroughly investigated the matter, and we had' the satisfaction of enlisting the Inspector's syiupathy and the promise of his support.
