MOUNT KOSCIUSKO. [Newspaper Article] — The Sydney Wool and Stock Journal — 20 January 1899

MOUNT KOSCIUSKO. A few days ago it was reported that Mr. A. H. S. Lucas, late head master of Newington College, had strayed on Mount Kosciusko, and grave fears were entertained for his safety. As it fortunately turned out, Mr. Lucas was scarcely in danger at any time, as will be seen by a perusal of the very interesting narrative which he has made public : - " On reaching Cooma yesterday (Monday) evening, I was distressed to find that grave reports that I had been lost in the snow on Mount Kosciusko had appeared in the papers, and that, in conscquence, my friends must have been made very anxious about me. As the matter has thus become notorious, I shall be glad if you will permit me to give a precise version of what actually took place. " We had made our way up out of the Thredbo Valley on Tuesday, January 10th, and our guides, Fred. Collins and his son, had   pitched our camp at the tree limit, say, 6,000ft., in a spot below the edge of the bare plains, and overlooking...
