PSU To Support Daily Collegian University Park, Pa Oct. On recommendation of the University Council, Dr. John W. Oswald, president of The Pennsylvania State Universityhas approved a new method of providing financial support to the Daily Collegian, student newspaper. In place of an allocation from the Associated Student Activities budget, the University will now purchase advertising and circulation services from the Daily Collegian. The amount of money involved is about the same in each case, and the Collegian is assured of needed revenue. Continuance of the plan depends on the Collegian Board of Directors working out a satisfactory grievance procedure for members of the Daily Collegian staff through amendment of the constitution and bylaws. The Council proposal also recommended that the Board of Directors devise a system of faculty representation on the Board _other than through the University Senate. The Council study followed President Oswald's request that it consider the...

Beatles Tonight Shown November 7 "The Learning Tree," written, produced, and directed by Gordon Parks, will be showing at Behrend on SundayNovember 7, at 7 and 9 p.m. in the Reed Union Lecture Hall. The price of admission will be 35 cents for students with activity cards and $1.00 for other students. In "The Learning Tree" a boy becomes a man. As Parks says, "The key thing is that the principle character Jearns to be self sufficient. Most important, he learns that hating is a waste of valuable energy." This picture attempts to clarify a lot of things to whites who don't understand why minority people react the way they do in the current civil rights struggle. "The Learning Tree" is set in the 1920's, but it's importance as a contemporary motion picture is its timeliness.

German Film Seen Tonight In RUB Hall The Captain of Koepenick (English sound track), the second in a series of films presented by the German department, will be shown tonight at 8 p.m. in the Reed Union Building Lecture Trie movie is based on a comedy written by Carl Zuckmayer in 1931. The play is ironically subtitled 'A • German Fairytale'. At last he decides to enter the townhall in the guise of a captain, with the sole object of obtaining a passport to leave the country. The arrogance of the military caste and the narrowmindedness of Prussian bureaucracy are illustrated in sharply profiled types. In Zuckmayer's hands, the story becomes an attack on the revival of the militaristic spirit marking the final phase of ...

A committee of five people who are selected from SGA will screen the applicants and choose 15 from the 22. This new embodiment of the Faculty Senate is extremely important to our student welfare. It will prove to be an aid to the .Faculty Organization because of the fact that the Faculty Senate will receive some helpful advise about administering Behrend Campus from a student's point of view. SGA hopes that this provision of student input will be successful, so they will follow some very careful screening of the applications. Improved Publications The SGA discussed ways in which to increase publication of important activies during its meeting Wednesday, November 3. It was suggested that there be a separate bulletin board for information of activities taking place at Behrend and in the Erie vicini...
