She was common cow enough, except that sho hnd lost her tail but about six inches.- The thief, fearing by the shortness of her tail he might bo traced, had procured in somo way, propably from a slaughter house, another cow tail which ho fasten ed so ingeniously to tho tail that it was not to bo known that it had not regular ly grown there.
