Sinco the close- of the last Congress, certain Cubans and other foreigners resi ding in the United States, who were more or less concerned in the previous invasion of Cuba, instead of being discouraged by its failure, have again abused the hos pitality of this country, by making it the scene of the equipment of another milita ry expedition against the possession of her Catholic majesty, in which they were countenanced, aided and joined by oitizens of the United States. Lopez, their leader, was captured and executed on the 1st September. Many of bis remaining followers were killed, or died of hunger and fatigue, and the rest were made prisoners.
