Wlhd sucklug and crib biting are one and the ittie habit, and, in some instance, the rnanlfeeU tloniof a disease; in others, the habit way nave been acquired from old and confirmed crib bltera. Some veterina rian attribute It to a distortion of the teeth, which have become worn away on their Interior edge so as to show more or leas of the yellow instead of the enamel. Professor Law says: 'These worn teeth are associated with he serious vice of wind sucking (swal lowing) and eructation, which leads to tympany, digestive disorder aud raitid loss of condition. The horse seizes tin mancer nr oilier solid obieet with his teeth, arches and shortens the neck, and makes a grunting noise. The wind sucking may exist without crib biting. It may be learned by standing idle near a crib biter, and always goes on to disease and loss of condition."
