Tho dark mystery surrounding the murder of Charles Goodrich, a wealthy citizen of Brooklyn, who was found dead in his room on tho morning of the 22d of March last, has at last been unraveled. He was murdered by Minnie Waltbam, alias Kate Stoddard, who, strange to say, has been liv ing all the timo within a few rods of tliei house where the deed was committed, notwithstanding the detectives have been pro fessedly ransacking the whole country in search of her. A COUPLE of men named Case, brought about three hundred and fifty .head of Taxes cattle into the vicinity of Maryville ; the disease which follows in the wake of these cattle, like a deadly scourge, soon set in among the native animals. The peoplo met and took measures to relieve the neighborhood of the plaguc-brccdinj: herd. A most disastrous fire occurred in Tortland, Oregon, last Saturday. Twenty-three blocks were entirely consumed, hundreds of families were made home less and destitute, and much suffering has been caused. A call for aid has been made. Wretches were discovered dur ing the day setting fire to buildings. TnE Kansas State Grange was reor ganized at the late meeting at Lawrence, and the order is now all "regular.'
